October is the month for the colour PINK! which represents breast cancer awareness, the pink ribbon. Roxy proudly presents Roxy's PINK! Project collaborating with PRIDE Foundation to create breast cancer awareness among its customers and raise fund to support the foundation for empowering program for breast cancer survivors in Malaysia.

Back on 17 October, Roxy and PRIDE Foundation went on their PINK! tour to Kampung Pangson, Ulu Langat to conduct free clinical checks for the ladies there helping those household with income less than RM1500.

The PINK! Tour that happened over the weekend outside Pavillion was to promote breast cancer awareness and conduct clinical checks in the mobile bus by LPPKN. Roxy was sponsoring breast check and pap smear test to its customers who purchase selected Roxy Pink Project merchandises.

Other activities included Breast Self Examination, sharing sessions by breast cancer survivors and Facebook photo contest.

Takers

Have you guys heard of the new upcoming movie, Takers? The one with 6 hunky guys on the poster! =P A movie directed by John Luessenhop.

The Synopsis

A seasoned team of bank robbers, including Gordon Jennings (Idris Elba), John Rahway (Paul Walker), A.J. (Hayden Christensen), and brothers Jake (Michael Ealy) and Jesse Attica (Chris Brown) successfully complete their latest heist and lead a life of luxury while planning their next job. Power Over Cervical Cancer (POCC)

What is POCC?

Power Over Cervical Cancer (POCC) is a disease awareness and education campaign initiated by the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) and supported by GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceutical (GSK). It aims to encourage women to protect themselves against cervical cancer.

Trust me, when you wanna talk to me about 'down south' especially about what sorta funky smell or infection or discharge... I get sorta uncomfortable about it. I guess that is because 'down south' is sorta something that I don't really know much about. So it scares me! I normally just hope that everything 'down south' is working fine. Its a whole rainforest in there!

Fight Against Cervical Cancer in Style with your BFF event!

I was recently invited to attend an event called "Fight Cervical Cancer in Style: Best Friends Forever (BFF) Bloggers Get-together." It was an awareness event to educate both genders about Cervical Cancer.

Did you know that cervical cancer is the SECOND most common cancer occuring in women?? Though it is only the THIRD most common cancer among Malaysia females, it is in the TOP THREE!

It was a nice cozy get-together at Ecoba. They had a 'True & False' session after the Introduction. Everyone was given a laminated paper with the word 'True' or 'False' on each side. Whoever answers a question right, gets a prize. I answered one! My prize was a Redken Bath Towel! WEee!!! Just what I needed! I've always wanted to get an extra towel for myself. Hehehe!

After the 'True & False' session, came the more serious stuff. Dr. Saunthari Somasundaram, Chief Executive and Medical Director of the National Cancer Society of Malaysia gave a very simple slideshow and description of what Cervical Cancer is and how we can prevent it.

Then they introduced the revamped POCC website with interactive pages for readers. It also features comprehensive information on cervical cancer, online photo pledges and story submissions for readers to engage and interact within the POCC website.

There will be a variety of ladies items on sale and free cervical cancer health talks and craft workshop for bloggers. Malaysian personalities and celebrities will be helping out through donation of personal items for auctioning. POCC partners will also be selling merchandise at discounted prices where partial proceeds will be donated to NCSM.

Then in March 2011, a Pink Party will be held as the finale to the Fight Cervical Cancer in Style BFF Campaign. The photo collage will be revealed in the attempt to set a record in the Malaysia Book of Records as the 'Largest Potrait Photo Collage'. We have 5 more months to go! Time to PLEDGE!!
