the Spring Ambassador Hunt: Competing?

Yes. the Spring Ambassador Hunt was a competition. We were competing against each other. But it didn't really look like we were competing, right? We were always doing everything together and had fun. LoL! It was like.. everytime a task is thrown at us, we took up the challenge and do it! What have we got to lose, anyway? Time maybe... LoL! But it was worth every single minute of it!

For the month of December 2009 and January 2010. We spent so much time at the Spring Shopping Mall every weekend. Since we were done with all the workshops, it was time to compete against each other and see who makes it through each elimination round.

First task for pre-Christmas show, I was to be a pregnant lady on stage. It was the Product Show. My group was to present clothes and product of Poppies, a retail outlet in the Spring Shopping Mall that caters to family; babies, fathers and mothers. The male clothes were sponsored by G2000. The other group were to present LG phones in very hip & latest fashion by SUB.

I was pregnant for 3 hours or at least I looked pregnant. LOL! Was not that tough. I just had a strap-on tummy, wore rubberband jeans, comfy crocs flats, maternity bra and a nice comfortable top. Everything was green including my earrings. =) Nice combination.

That was the first round of competing against each other. I doubt we actually did try to compete against each other. We practically helped each other do the best we can. =) We had those fun late nights rehearsing with the song out loud and only us left on stage while the shops are closed.. =)

Second round was Talent Show! This scared the crap out of most of us. We didn't know what to do. Every day we would be asking each other, "what are you doing? have you decided what to do??" But we all did our own preparations. The Talent Show was the weekend before Christmas. We had very different talents to show. Some did dancing, some even did card tricks, some did singing, some did playing instruments. A nice blend of talents, aye? =P

Like even on the day itself I was still contemplating on singing a Christmas number or a Jazz number... LoL! personally, I think we all spent time having lots of fun. Doing things in public we rarely do. Going up on stage and building our on-stage character and confidence. =) After every task, we spent time together eating and talking about what we just did. Its always great fun. 5 months being stuck together was the best thing that happened to all of us. LOL! Thanks to the Spring Shopping Mall and of course that person who got us all together into it. =)

the Spring Ambassador Hunt: the Journey

the Spring Ambassador Hunt (tSAH) started with 3 days recruitment drive and 2 days of auditions looking for potential candidates. I ended up joining the auditions myself just for fun on the very last day. Basically, it was a lot of people that I personally know who joined because I was bugging them all to join! Hahaha! We tried bugging others to join but most were not interested or they just didn't know what it was all about.

It was tiring weekend, no doubt. I remembered having to drive around Kuching looking for a microphone for the videographer. LoL! Sunday night, we had a lot of last minute participants wanting to audition. =) Response were good. We ended the whole thing by watching Surrogates @ MBO. LoL!

After the first round of auditions, around 18 got through. A second audition was held privately in the office. We were shortlisted from 18 to 14 contestants. We had to run around the Spring Shopping Mall looking for our names on a paper stuck to various glass windows/walls of retail outlets. Those who got through were to show up that weekend for our first photoshoot with Alvin Leong (one of tSAH sponsor).

The day of the photoshoot, we had lots of fun having make-up done by Stage @ the Spring Shopping Mall. Then we had to rush to Alvin Leong for the photoshoot! We all went back to the Spring for lunch after. I remember this day to be one of those days where you just don't understand how come suddenly everything is happening on the same day!

I was happy and then suprised/shocked. After which, I was annoyed and upset because of a certain surprise that backfired because it was not the nice sorta suprise? I had a guilty suprise. Especially when a person is too nice and being the hopeless romantic person that he is. Then there's the saying, "You have to be cruel to be kind." ?? It was just one of those days. My best friend was laughing so much at me for being annoyed and almost in tears. Talk about sympathizing?? LOL! But I ended up laughing at myself for being annoyed and feeling guilty.

After the photoshoot, next assignment was to participate in Body Combat & Body Pump class at Level Up Fitness. Mr. Kenny Sia, Founder & Executive Director of Level Up Fitness had arranged a special class especially for us Ambassadors on a lovely Sunday morning. =) It was crazy tiring! I didn't know jumping around like that and punching would ever get me sweating.. mmm... it was some intense stuff! LOL!

The weekend after we had to attend workshops at UCSI Extension. First workshop was on the Tourism industry as explained by Ms. Gracie of UCSI. After which, the workshop was then continued with a Health Workshop by Ms. Snowie & Sam from NewLife. Both Ms. Snowie & Sam are from KK. We had lots of laughs together. =) What I learned is... if I want my kids to be tall... I will need them to be really active, running around and join sports! =P hahaha!

Next, we had Table Setting workshop with UCSI Extension. We learned to set up a table, how to place the cutleries, glass placement and table napkin folding. We even learned to pour wine!/sparkling juice. The proper method to open a bottle of wine/sparkling juice and pouring it. We had fun pouring for each other. =)

If you ask me personally, I think the workshops brought us all closer together. We had time to bond and get to know each other better before we really had to compete against each other. LOL! We had fun jumping around and punching air @ Level Up Fitness. We had fun listening to great workshops on Tourism & Health! Plus we get hands-on experience on Table Settings! Pretty awesome, if you ask me! =)

What your mind wants, your body rejects....

Suffering yet again. Somehow it seems what my mind wants to do, my body cannot take it. Guess, my mind is always stronger. Brrrr... LoL! I hate it when my body rejects what my mind tells it to do.

Like how I actually like Tom Yum Soup from Thai Express but my body can't take it due to my food allergies. Like how I actually like to run marathons or sprint but after I finish the whole thing, my body crashes on me. Can't breathe, choking, chest pain, muscle cramps and overall weak body. So much for MIND OVER MATTER!

I was throwing up for 3 hours in 10-20 mins intervals. My first ever food poisoning encounter that involves throwing up. Never knew it would be this painful. I've heard of it but never seen it cause everyone in my family normally has food poisoning when I'm not around to see it. So, I didn't even know what to do......

Suddenly, my best friend is my on-call doctor. Haaha! I'm actually amazed he knows that much! =P I don't like that I'm always going to him now. He used to be the one who always comes to me when he has a problem. I like it better when I'm helping him.... brrr... hehe.. but I guess I like the fact that we can depend on each other to be there when in need. =)

Imma be so afraid of eating for the next few days...... =( Sadness... especially when I actually really love to eat. I was eating all day today with my Godparents, uncles and aunties. They tend to order way a lot and I have to finish it cause they always say, "You have to eat it! You can afford to eat all of it. So skinny..." So... not wanting to seem ungrateful, I did as I was told. Was pushing in so much all day til night to the point, I had a headache from eating too much. I thought it was just eating too much... I thought wrong. It was food poisoning. Way to go!

it was a good run. we all had tonnes of fun. its sad that everything had to come to an end. all good things come to an end somehow, as much as we don't want it to. one by one, we are all leaving but the power of the Internet is suppose to be of great help, yea? =)

like i once wrote.. people come and go. some are here for a reason, a season or a lifetime.

Happy Chinese New Year! =) Its my year. The year of the Tiger. Makes me wonder what does the year of the Tiger has in store for me. I'm expecting a million changes seeing as I just graduated. Nothing will ever stay the same anymore. I won't be going to Uni anymore when the term starts. I won't have much of a chance to just sit and laze at home anymore.

Honestly speaking... I think my time here is up. I need to move. As much as I like Kuching and how everyone is here. I have to leave my comfort zone and venture into something new so that I can continue to grow and learn more. Take this as a... "I wanna get out of here" Not really Kuching itself but rather I need to be on my own. I wanna be on my own. I wanna be in a place where all I can depend on is myself.

I have been here 24 years. Everything here has molded me into the person I am now. All the achievements and mistakes I've done so far is only the start of many more to come. I guess, it all depends on how much you learn from every achievement and mistake you've done in the past. Sometimes, I oversee the achievements and focus more on my mistakes because the more I remind myself of the mistakes I have done, I am probably on my way to never repeat those same mistakes and take better course of actions in the future when faced with similiar situations.

Pretty heavy topic for the start of a new year, aye? Or for Valentine's Day for that matter. Valentine's Day is but just another day for couples to celebrate and remind each other of how much they care for each other. I may be single but unlike last year, I am choosing to embrace Valentine's Day and be happy for everyone who has somebody.

There is always somebody for anybody out there. You just have to open up your eyes & that thing called h-e-a-r-t cause everybody needs somebody. Just like the song, I sang yesterday in front of all the patrons of the Spring Shopping Mall....

As of late, I've been seeing a quote around on facebook. The quote goes like this....

But.... if you ask me, if he gives you crap.. JUST WALK AWAY. Though the thought of giving him a taste of his own medicine or taking revenge on him would be GREAT! FERRGET IT! Don't waste your energy and time on him more than you already have. If he starts giving you crap, dump his stupid ass and move on.

Everyone deserves to be treated well, never ever settle for less than that! Skip the whole 'give him a tonne of shit' cause he probably is a whole lot of shit himself and he would probably go through a lot more shit in the future. Don't worry about him never learning his lesson. He will eventually..... very far in the future.

I can finally GRADUATE!

It is such a happy day! The lady from the exam unit gave me the happy news this morning! Even she was happy for me and congratulating me over the phone. I love making people laugh even though they don't know who is at the other end of the line! Its a skill to master. =P huahuahua!

I can't stop smiling to myself! I'm so happy! Hahahaaha!! Life is great! I wanna celebrate it! Hahaha! I am happy just the way everything is now. I spent 18 years of my life studying in a classroom and I'm finally done with it.

First person, I called was my mum and she was happy! =P She said, "Good! Now you can sit down and look for a job. You coming home for dinner?" Hahhaa! Then I texted my sister in Singapore. She replied, "Congratulations! Hhaha! Next question: Are you coming over?" Hahhaha!! I said I would go over if anyone there wants to hire me! =P The next few people I told were my best friend, my bosses, my colleagues, my good friends as of late who were all happy for me! and finally HERE. LoL!

I'm feeling so grateful and happy for everything in life! Sure there are hiccups here and there but its all these small nice details of life that reminds me that life is just more than just those bad times! Hahahaha! Happiness! I just finished having lunch at Silhouette! Celebration with a person I barely know but he's happy for me for receiving the good news earlier! Hahha!

Time to get back to work.
