In My Room...

Monday, July 31, 2006
Hehe~ Not that I'm going to explain as to what is in my room now... Well I actually can.. but.. there's nothing much. Filled with my stuff.. yes!! Not forgetting my roomate's stuff. I have more stuff lying around than she does. Damn~! Now I wonder why is that.... I've been cleaning my room once a week and still it feels like I don't have enough place.

Anyways, here I am. Finally able to come online using my own laptop, in my own room. Not in the most comfortable situation but.. its better than having to go to a CC outside and pay RM2.50 per hour.

Life has been horribly torturing. Yesterday, Wang Ying and I got bored of waiting for the bus to get to campus and so we walked from our hostel to campus. We were walking at quite a quick pace. It took us 20 minutes to reach the East gate. Pulled my muscles. Morning walk~ Good thing every morning here, its freezing cold but the dust and sand from the road are not fun when they get into your eyes.

My roomate was away since Wednesday. Meaning I had the room all to myself for 3 days and 4 nights. I love the privacy. I practically blasted my speakers. Hehhe!! She came back this morning at 5am!! Making so much noise as she came in. Gosh~ The weird thing about me, ever since I got here... any noise I would suddenly wake up. Back in Kuching, I sleep like a dead veg!

The wireless connection here sucks big time!! I keep getting disconnected every few minutes. The longest it stayed without disconnecting was 30 minutes. I'm considered lucky to be able to come online. Some of my friends with brand new computers or laptops are unable to come online.

I'm packed with assignments. Everyday worry about assignments only. Sadness~ Connection here sucks~ Just gonna end this.. This post only took 20 minutes.. but I waited more than an hour trying to publish it!!

Great Performances

Thursday, July 20, 2006
For the past 2 days, I was involved in an international event. Being the MC was fun. WAhahaha!~! I get VIP treatment!! Wahahaha!~! But the preparation part was not easy. This is like my first time being the MC for an international event.

For Tuesday night, we had 4 performances. Kitri from India, Kanthy Mansiysk from Russia, NOW Ensemble from Finland and Octava Choral Society from Philippines. The Kanthy Mansiysk Ensemble was great fun~! Great musicians. It felt like we were in a circus or on the streets in Europe with people playing by the road. NOW ensemble has great compositions. Octava Choral Society is like multi-talented. They have to sing, dance and play instruments.

After the event, I ate with VIPs and the guest performers. Not like the food was anything great but the room looks majestic. After everything was done, I went out to have supper with 5 lecturers from my faculty. At first I was like nervous.. but after awhile.. they were quite alright.

They joked and talked crap too but they smoke a lot. Since last week, I stink of smoke almost everyday after meeting with my lecturers. Not that I smoke.. Wahahaha!!~! My lecturer sent me back to my hostel at about almost 1am. My hostel actually has a stupid curfew, 12am. One hour late but my lecturer helped to explain. =P
For Wednesday, there were two events. Afternoon, I was allowed not to go class and instead be at the theatre to welcome the guest from ISME Conference. I was told 2pm but we ended up waiting til 3.45pm. Sat at the theatre and fell asleep waiting.

I was suppose to return back to hostel and get ready for the night event but it started raining so I stayed back in the faculty and hung out with the guys from my music course. They acted like little boys who never saw a girl wearing a dress. It is scary when a malay guy comes up to you and asks "You mau masuk ISLAM tak?" ... So scary but I nicely said, "Hehe.. no thank you, I don't want wear tudung and I like being a Christian." =P

I was wearing a dress and a black jacket for the afternoon event. My lecturer assigned his friend to send me back to my hostel since it was raining. Upon reaching at the main gate, I was stopped and an idiot staff of the UPSI started scolding me about my dressing, saying its not appropriate for a student. Bla bla!! It was really stupid as I didn't have the mood or the time for such a thing. When I'm angry, I will sure speak English and this idiot can't really understand English.

Forget him.. Idiot!! But he really messed up my emotion and I was crying buckets. Got ready to go back to campus for another event. The driver assigned to pick me was like trying to make me stop crying. Wahaha!~! Poor guy. Everyone was so afraid for me since I have to speak in front of an audience in a few minutes time.

We had a choir from USA, Keystone State Boychoir. They were really great. Fantastic young boys ages between 8-18 only but they can easily just join the American Idol and win. Underage though. So they have to wait. Heheh~!

The Head Department told the music director of the boychoir not to perform any song related to Christianity or religious songs. Obviously, the head department was not thinking profesionally. It is stated that this boychoir perform hymns in the brochures. The members of the boychoir obviously were not happy about it. It was seriously a stupid move for our Head Department.

But the boychoir performed the songs at the end of the show. I was surprised as I thought they were told not to already. I turned to my lecturer.

My lecturer: I told them to just go ahead and sing the songs.
Me: Does the Head know?
My lecturer: Nope .
Me: You are so lucky that he didn't bring his handphone today.

My lecturer is so cool. Hahaa~! Talking to him is like talking a friend but still doesn't understand when I'm being sarcastic. A lot of people don't understand me when I try to be sarcastic just for fun. Hai~~

Anyways, that's all for now. I'm in a CC. You know how sad it is here? Stupidly, everything is wireless and the wireless is not even stable. It is so damn it hard to go online here. I hate coming to CC as they just suck money out of us. I miss home!!!! I wanna go home.. I wish... if only every night I dream about being at home in Kuching. That would be great. HAhaha!!~!

Take care everyone and pray for me that I will be able to bare 4 years here. If not, just pray that I will be able to go through this first 6 months!!!

Bye bye... =(

What A Week

Sunday, July 16, 2006
Can you believe it? Its only the first week of Uni and I'm already so busy that I only get to my room after 10pm everyday. Its that hectic. Upcoming events for the coming week is ISME a mini concert which I will be the MC and I will be performing along with my course mates on the Introduction Nite.

Well, this weekend... I'm not in Ipoh. After reading this post, you will think I'm such a REBEL! Wahaaha~ Anyways, my friend and I had planned to go KL this weekend to get her a laptop. We had bought the bus ticket for Saturday morning 11am but we left Tanjung Malim by Friday night.

We kinda made the decision to leave for KL in like 10 mins. We went back to our hostel and packed our things as we were running away from home. We got out at 10pm and was on our way away from Tanjung Malim. We didn't actually have a plan of where to go so in the end, we chose Genting Highlands.

Normal people will check-in at 12noon. We not normal people check-in at 12 midnight. WAhaha~!!! Crazy ay? What can do... someone's brilliant idea to stay in Genting. Anyways, we seriously only went to Genting for a place to spend the night. We didn't even go play at the theme park or enjoy the view and scenery. We practically bath, sleep, wake up and check-out.

We got to KL by 2pm. First place we went was Sungei Wang Plaza. So many people, so many shops. Unbelievably filled with humans. I can't go shopping in such a place... practically had a headache. Then we went to Low Yat Plaza. Computer heaven.. Great stuff but no money..

Then we went to Berjaya Times Square. To make story short. Sat on 6 rides and the last ride killed me!! I vomited twice and yucky... BLUWEK!! Super short le? Wahaahhaha~ But the whole experience is super thrilling man!!

I'm suppose to be in the hostel attending some stupid hostel orientation. WAhaah!!!~! Bad me!! I'm suppose to be in bed now, its 2am but I'm here. Gotta go man... Not nice for me to use people's things for so long. Bye bye, Take care and Pray for me always. WAhaaha!~!

Missing everyone!!

Farewell

Saturday, July 01, 2006
This will be my last post in Kuching before I leave in the morning. Flight will be at 11.55am. Taking the airasia. Taking pictures is out of the question as I will not be bringing my sister's camera to Ipoh with me.
I have much to say but I'll sure end up crying by the end of this post. I'll be gone for at least a few months from now. I'd be lucky if I'm able to go online there. I heard no internet in hostels.
=( *sadness*
I'm so sleepy and yet I still have a few more things to pack. Darn it. Today has been a lazy for me and too much crying if you ask me. I hate feeling down... it makes me feel like punching something hard. I've grown to like punching... which is bad since I'm a girl. (I tend to forget I'm a girl =P)
I am sure going to miss a lot of things back here in Kuching. The freedom, how I'm familiar with everything here including the roads, how partially safe Kuching is compared to KL and all the great people I've had the privilege of knowing. I will sure miss all who are dear to me.
With this, I bid my final farewell and til the next time I post... I am not sure when. So til then.
Take care everyone! Do keep me in your prayers~ =) Bye bye
love lots,
yomI
