Birthday Parties & Charlie Angels

Wednesday, June 28, 2006
Don't you think the cake looks pretty? Both cakes were made by Jason's mum with the help of Gerard & Jason. On the decoration part, it was by Jason, Jason's mum and I. Profesional or not? wee hehe~ =P

Last weekend was super pack for me. My schedule was full, every slot was taken. Amazing I could manage to go out so much without getting my parents scolding me. =P Oh well, my last few days around Kuching. What can I do but spend more time with people whom I know I will miss?

Anyways, last weekend there were two parties celebrating two person's birthday. Chin & Sean's birthday together. Sean had already plan to have his birthday party at his house on Saturday with Chin being his co-organizer since they both celebrate together. Things started getting complicated when Jason told me that he, Milton and Dean had initially planned to throw a surprise party for Chin & Sean. I think quite a number of people was blurred by that. So two parties for two same person.

Yummy food~

Talking, eating, drinking~

And more of those~

Chin gets a bicycle and Sean got a jersey with his name on it.

Sean - No. 9

Rebecca also got a present!~!

Gerard also got a present as a farewell gift~

Monday night,

I was out with the angels... Charlie's Angels. Hahaha~ Introducing the new cast.

Anna, mimi & Ngel

Lionel @ Charlie @ The Talking Radio

Well, I have no idea why we suddenly called ourselves Charlie's Angels but I think partly because Nel is always calling one of us and we would put him on loudspeaker so everyone can hear him and talk at the same time. =P *funny* We were in Thymes having dinner. I must say their quality of food has really drop. I would know since I dine often at Thymes.

Look at the expression on Ngel face~

Of Farewell & Last Performance

Thursday, June 22, 2006

This week has been like on an emotional roller coaster. On Monday night, I was at barZing watching Just Friends. Just Friends is a band consisting of Adrian, Marvin, Sam and korean looking dude. (dunno how to spell his name =P)

It was Adrian's last performance before leaving Kuching for Penang to do his final year in USM. He has a great voice with influences from Jamie Cullum, Diana Krall and Al Jarreau. His slow and smooth songs can make you feel relax and just feel like going to sleep. I'd like to let you hear his recording but I think he would not like it as it goes againts his privacy.

Looky, my plain bubbly crazy nutty buddy & korean looking dude~

On Wenesday......

Met up with Rajiv on his last day in Kuching. Amazing~ Haha~ He was in Kuching for a whole week and I only got to meet him on his last day. Well, better than not meeting up at all. I don't know when ever again would I meet him.

The meet up was fun and I'm sorry if my mouth went on and on like a shooting bullet. As Pris said, I'm like a google search machine. Haaha~ But obviously not as good as the real thang. =P

We took a few pictures at Travillion and Friendship Park. And here goes...

Us 4 (Not F4 or Fantastic Four) =P

The chicks~

The dudes~

All smiles =)

Reality Sets In

It was just last week when I was happy and enjoying how my life was. On Monday, within seconds the warm fuzzy feeling in me was ripped away by a mere page of words on the computer screen.

I am placed in Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris which is in Ipoh, Perak. I'll be doing Music in Education. My course will take 4 years as I'm required to take another minor subject. This is the 4th choice in my application.

I will not say I'm thrilled about it but I guess I'm lucky to even get a course. At least I'll be doing something I have basix foundation in and won't be so lost when I start though I am a little rusty at it.

I'll be leaving next week Saturday morning(1st July) on the 11.55am flight to Kuala Lumpur with my mum. I bet its going to be hard for me to say goodbye to everyone and my hometown where I've been brought up.

Just the thought of leaving Kuching makes my eyes tear up. All the familiar faces, places, food & drinks which only can be found in Kuching. I guess everyone will be getting on with their own life. Getting a fresh start.

My days are counted. I still have much packing to do and other things to be done. Not to mention keeping away everything that belongs to me in the house so that it won't go missing while I'm gone.

Til the next post, good day~

Elephant Cafe & Bistro

Wednesday, June 14, 2006

Elephant Cafe & Bistro is situated in Jalan Ang Cheng Ho. It has been there for years. I remembered going there when I was only in Primary school. It is famous for huge portion and reasonablely priced western dishes. Stepping into Elephant, you'll see pictures of elephants and even wall decos of elephants.

-Big picture of elephant-

Sprite with Blue Curacao & Chocolate Milk Shake

Caesar Salad : Nicely decorated. The taste was just right, it didn't feel too rich or too mild.

Cream of Mushroom Soup & Garlic Bread: Now this mushroom soup is made from real mushrooms and spices.

Beef Steak with Black Pepper Sauce: Looks good, ay? The beans and carrots were great. At least it was not bland like at Thymes but the beef steak was tough although it was suppose to be only well done. It was like exercising my jaws and teeth.

Cheesy Beef Steak: Instead of mash potatoes, this dish has curly fries. The curly fries was better than the mash potatoes though. The beef here was also a bit on the tough side. =/

yomI: So, what do you think of the food here?
miKey: Hrm............. let me think.............

Me happy to be eating out~ =)

Elephant Cafe & Bistro is a quiet little place. You won't even feel like talking out loud because everyone will sure look your way, wondering why this sakai people so talking so loud. =P

Good atmosphere for a quiet dinner and good dishes. The spaghetti with meat balls I remembered was heavenly and the steak was great on Valentine's day. Just not tonight. =/ Maybe they changed chef.... *sadness*

In tis season of FIFA World Cup, I see many cafes and kopitiam has either a big flat screen, a projector screen or a tv with football match on. SHIOK Cafe situated at the other end of the block of The Colours has a big projector screen!

The Kuching International Airport (KIA) now offers seats to watch the FIFA World Cup football matches for FREE in fully air-conditioned atmosphere! You can also sit on the shiny squeaky clean floor and watch if there are no chairs around. Forget about sitting in kopitiams and cafes wasting money getting a drink to watch football matches with your mates.

Mike and I paid a visit to the airport and saw quite a big number of people watching football. I was tempted to take pictures of them but ended up not taking any as they might not like it and maybe bash me up!

Don't you think the newly improved and renovated KIA uses too much electricity? So many lights indoor and outdoor.

And finallly,

--Keep away from betting in tis season of FIFA World Cup--

Weekend Getaway

Saturday, June 10, 2006
Warning: Major load of pictures. Will take time to load.

Today, I went out with my friends the whole day. Eight of us consisting of Chin, Dean, Eddie, Jason, Milton, Sean, me and not forgetting Tuson, Jason's father's brother's son cousin's son (in short Jason's second degree cousin) went to Pasir Pandak for a weekend getaway and try fishing using the spin casting method.

We met for breakfast in Green Hill Corner. Tuson could not understand why I would hang out with all guys and he said the darnest line which got the whole group cracking up with laughter. Half of us went Sarawak Plaza to buy hooks, fishing lines and weights. Spontaneously, Sean even bought a RM90 football which I didn't manage to take a picture of. It was all red & shiny~ The other half went to the market to get squids which they will use as baits along with the prawns Jason's mum let us use.

We still had to go back to Chin's house to get his extra fishing rod. From there, we were on our way towards Pasir Pandak. Pasir Pandak is much closer compared to Santubong or Damai. Its only 14km from the housing areas in Petra Jaya.

On the way to Pasir Pandak.... Lots of trees by the roadside. Shady, baby~ =)

As we turned into the road which leads to Pasir Pandak... the road was pretty much empty...

Here, it looks as if we were driving towards the moutains...

Does this picture not make you feel like you're in Amazon? =P

We made a few wrong turnings into Kampung Pasir Pandak. Hehe~ We finally got to the main beach at noon. We walked pretty far to one end where the rocks were and they got busy down to fixing up their fishing rods.

OUR TERRITORY! *Temporarily* =P

Tuson: Fishing rod, line, hooks, weights, tying knots.. I can't do this no more! :'(

*wiping tears away with sleeve*

One hour later....

Still trying to get the knots, hooks & weights on~

LOOK! Graffiti by 'Cave Men'!

After about 2 hours....

No fish.. but prawns, hooks and weights keep going missing and getting stuck in between rocks.

Dean: These rocks are cursed!
Me: These rocks are rich since all the hooks and weights are stuck there. =P

We moved the scene up to the shore!

Dean caught the same 'big fish' TWICE! Guess what species is the 'big fish'.....? Its ME! HAhaHa.. Dean's line was way off on the right and it was on Jason's line. Dean was reeling in his line while Jason who saw the hook from Dean's line on his line, untangled it and threw it back into the water. I was near the area and suddenly, I realized that Dean's line was AROUND my left foot!

I screamed cause I knew that the hook was some where near and if it was to hook my feet.... PAIN!! *crY* I didn't dare move and Dean stopped reeling his line while Chin tried untangling the line from my feet. *pheew* No cuts or hooks. Wee hehe~

Awhile later, I was in the waters again just walking and splashing at Jason and Tuson when suddenly, *plooop* Dean's bait on the hook and weight landed right in front of me. Luckily, not directly on me or else, I would have gotten hooked!

Sean: Oi.. Almost kena her! Right in front ar..
Me: Ah TI!! You want the fish with 2 hands and 2 legs one izzit? You want Ah Jei say so la... =P

But of course it was done unintentionally. =) Good thing no injuries, that's all that matters.

Finally, we caught some FISHYs!!

Side view, puffer fish. Very poisonous and thorny too!

Tuson caught a CRAB! BaD BaD CRAB!!

Sean was the first to finally managed to catch a fish. A puffer fish and we kept it alive a little while longer in someone's boat. Sean managed to catch up to 4 puffer fishys. After awhile, Chin managed to catch 1 and later Jason also caught 1. So all together we had 6 puffer fishys.

I didn't know it was a puffer fish until when Tuson tried taking the hook off the fish and suddenly it puffed like a balloon! Puffer fish are poisonous. Almost the entire body it poisonous, so none of us used our barehands to touch it. The paralyzing poison is called tetrodoxin which still has no antidote.

Tuson also managed to catch a crab. We left the crab together with the fishys and the crab so mean.. went and clawed one of the fishy.

By 5pm.....

We started packing and preparing to leave. 3 puffer fishys died. Another 3 puffer fishys we set them free. Technically, we did. I'm guessing only 2 survived and swam back into the sea. The survival of the 3rd puffer fish which was supposedly still alive is 0% as under circumstances died in the name of cruelty. Though the crab did survive and ran into the sea quickly once set free.

Burying the fishy at shore....

CRAB is strong! Its has a rock and shoe sole in its claws!

Take a closer LOOK....

Taking a stroll along the beach...

Chin looks like a tourist =)

Me~! WEe hehe~ =P

Adorable Dean & Sean... =)

Evening Sun... =)

Chin & Mother Nature

All fun things always have to come to an end. =( *sniff sniff* We finally left the place around 5.40pm. Its a pity we didn't manage to take a group picture. Too bad~ I got a permanent memory from the fishing trip though. My shoulders now are glowing red and I feel it stinging. Hehe~ There is always a price to pay. Wee hehe~

How much I will miss all these fun and enjoyment with them when I start studying again. *crY*
